WORDS OF INSPIRATION, MOTIVATION AND WISDOM

“We have entered an age in which education is not just a luxury permitting some men an advantage over others It has become a necessity without which a person is defenseless in this complex industrialized society We have truly entered the century of the educated man.” President Lyndon Johnson

“…not only do you have to consider children as individuals, but you also have to consider children as members of groups with their own cultural identities…”  Dr. Sue Bredekamp
“You have to educate your kid that is the proven way to create sustainable economic growth” Art Rolnick

“The joy of teaching is the moment a child's eyes light up when the realize they "got it"  Anonymous

“We need to take a less narrow look at our children’s problems and, instead, see them as windows of opportunity—a way of exploring and understanding all facets of our children’s development. If we can understand the underlying developmental process, we can see a child’s struggles as signs of striving toward growth instead of chronic problems or attempts to aggravate adults.”  Stanley Greenspan

The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet. Aristotle

He who opens a school door, closes a prison. Victor Hugo

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela

"Do it well, finish it properly and move on"  Eunice Kennedy Shriver

2 PEOPLE IN MY LIFE

Mother:       Willie L. Dillard
Father:         John S. Dillard Sr.

The list above is member of my family that had an influence on me when I was a child. My family was a little unorthodox. The majority were not affectionate people. I will give you examples of how each one care about me and made me feel special.  Although the assignment asked for 5 people, I only have 2. Really, my mother raised me; though my father lived with us, he really wasn't that involved in our lives.

My mother made me feel special because she never let anyone show favoritism between my brother and I. She didn't take kindly to people comparing my brother and me either. Once my mother came to the school because teachers kept comparing my brother and I. I made better grades and they kept saying "why can’t you be more like your sister?" Needless to say, that never happened again.
This situation taught me that my mother cared about how me and my brother felt and she didn’t want anyone hurting our feeling. This taught me to empathize with others.  This still impacts me today because I am very in tune with how people feel and I do my best to keep other peoples feelings into consideration at all times.
This is helpful in education because understanding how a child feels will enable you to get to the bottom of it and in turn the student will have a better, more enhanced learning experience.

My father made me feel special just by loving me. When I was very young I felt like daddy’s little girl. He was very affectionate towards me and it made me feel very loved. This situation taught me the importance of showing affection to young children. When children feel loved, they are able to learn and interact in the classroom on a higher level.

A story about a child that touched my heart!!

I was sick with the flu, and my 4 year old nephew called to talk to his grandma. During the conversation he asked to speak to me but was told I was sleeping because I wasnt feel well. After he got off the phone his mother stated he was very upset because he didn't talk to me. Devin told his mom he was going to pray for me and talked about how sick I was for the rest of the evening until he went to sleep. The next morning he wanted to call me but his mom said no because it was too early . He stated crying. So as soon as I knew he was home I called him.  He said aunty you were sick and was worried about you, do you feel better?  Of course I said yes because I didnt want him to have another restless night! ! This story means so much because ive never encountered a child with that much love and concern for another human being in all my life. Most children his age are thinking about themselves and not others.

Child's drawing

This drawing was done by my 11 year old niece. This drawing was tiuching to me because she drew us as a family. In this drawing is her mom, her brother, herself,  her aunty (me), my uncle (my husband), and her grandma. She sees us as a family,  although we all do not live together. Love miss natalya♥♡

ME!!!

I love this book because it reminds me of my childhood. It takes the child on an emotional adventure. they are shocked, scared, happy, excited and relieved. It is an engaging story from beginning until the end.

What about the children

WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN

Tears streaming down, her heart is broken
Because her life is hurting, so am I
He wears a frown, his dreams are choking
And because he stands alone, his dreams will die
So, humbly I come to you and say
As I sound aloud the warfare of today
Hear me, I pray

What about the children
To ignore is so easy
So many innocent children would choose the wrong way
So what about the children
Remember when we were children
And if not for those who loved us and who cared enough to show us
Where would we be today

Sir, where is your son
Where lies his refuge
And if he can't come to you, then where can he run
Such a foolish girl, yet still, she's your daughter
And if you will just reminisce your days of young
You see, it's not where you've been, nor what you've done
Because I know a friend who specializes in great outcomes
See His love overcomes
What about the children
To ignore is so easy
So many innocent children would choose the wrong way
So what about the children
Remember when we were children
And if not for those who loved us and who cared enough to show us
Where would we be today
What about the children
Don’t just turn and walk away
What about the children
They need our love and our help today

What about the children
Remember when we were children
And if not for those who loved us and who cared enough to show us
Where would we be today
What about the children……
